Ahmed Zaidan ist irakischer Autor und Journalist, wohnhaft in Turku, Finnland. 1988 in Mosul geboren, verließ er 2013 seine Heimatstadt in Angst vor der eskalierenden Gewalt des in der Region. Mit Aurora from Mosul erscheint sein erster Gedichtband in Europa. Unterteilt in die vier Kapitel Escape (Entkommen), Arrival (Ankunft), Memories (Erinnerungen) und Hope (Hoffnung) berichtet eine aufmerksame und sensible lyrische Stimme von eben jenen Stationen während, aber vor allem nach einer Flucht vor den Schrecken des Krieges in ein vollkommen anderes Leben, als jenes aus der Erinnerung an die Heimat.

Ahmed Zaidan is an iraqi poet and journalist based Turku, Finland. Born 1988 in Mosul, he fled from his hometown in fear of the escalating violence in the region in 2013. Aurora from Mosul is his first publication of poetry in Europe. Divided into the four chapters Escape, Arrival, Memories, and Hope, a thoughtful and sensitive lyrical voice tells about those stages of and after an escape from the horrors of war into a life different from the one in the memories.
